New school section on Konvertera.nu: the unit ladder, thirteen tables and exercise sheets – and games on the way
Konvertera.nu now has a school section: an interactive unit ladder, thirteen editable conversion tables with exercise sheets and answer keys, and PDF downloads – and games are on the way. Free, ad-free and no login.
Konvertera.nu has a brand-new school section: konvertera.nu/school. It collects everything for practicing unit conversion in math class – an interactive unit ladder, thirteen printable conversion tables, and exercise sheets with answer keys. All of it is free and ad-free, requires no login, and shows no cookie banner. And games are on the way – more on that below.
Here is a tour of what’s new.
The unit ladder – watch the decimal point move
Unit conversion is about moving the decimal point – easier said than understood. The interactive unit ladder shows the whole SI scale, from yotta down to yocto. Pick a From step and a To step and watch exactly how the decimal point travels.
The ladder is printable too: one click gives you the whole staircase on a single portrait A4, ready for the classroom wall or a binder.
Thirteen conversion tables – that you can make your own
The conversion tables cover thirteen categories – length, area, weight and mass, volume, speed, time, data storage, energy, power, data rate, pressure and fuel consumption, plus a formula card for temperature (degrees don’t fit a chain table, so Celsius, Fahrenheit and kelvin get their relationships as formulas).
The special part is that every table is editable:
- Rebuild the table – drag the rows, change counts and units, add your own rows.
- Share with your class – everything you change lands in the page address. Share the link in your newsletter or LMS and the whole class opens exactly the same table.
- Exercise sheets with answer keys – the “Print exercise sheet” button gives the table with empty answer cells and lines for name and date. The regular print is the answer key.
- PDF on one A4 – every table, including one you rebuilt yourself, can be downloaded as a PDF, ready for your LMS.
And games are on the way
We are also building math games for unit conversion. First up is a matching game where students pair up cards that show the same quantity – for example 8 km and 8,000 m – with mistakes explained on the unit ladder and a deck that can be printed as physical game cards. It is in development right now and will get its own post here on the blog when it is ready.
Built for the classroom – and for your school’s data protection officer
The school pages have no ads, no login, no profiling or tracking of students, and no cookie banner. No student data is collected – the material works without accounts and without consent forms. Does your school’s IT or data protection officer need to approve tools? Show them the For teachers page – it is written for exactly that conversation.
All the material is licensed CC BY 4.0: free to copy, print, share and adapt – including in teaching – as long as you credit the source. And the numbers can be trusted: every conversion factor follows the SI definitions (BIPM), and every table is machine-checked against the same unit data that powers the converters on Konvertera.nu.
